Research Experiences
Penn State University College of Medicine, USA
Worked as a postdoctoral scholar in the Dept of Cell and Molecular Physiology, Pennstate College of Medicine, Hershey, Under Pennstate University, from June 2008 to July 2009, taken care insulin signaling pathway using protein-protein interaction (technical strategy: co-transfection and co-immunoprecipitation) and signal transduction pathway in cell lines, also experienced in protein kinase assay.
BIRDEM, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Working as a Senior Research Officer in the Dept of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Research Division (April 2006 to till date) and at the same Department I was worked as a Research Officer from May 1996 to April 2006.In this department I am actively engaged in clinical and genetic research on diabetes and diabetes related complications, apart from diabetes I am also taking care a project on Genotypes of N-acetyl transferase-2 in Bangladeshi population.
University of Montpellier 1, France
I have worked as a research student under this University in the laboratory of INSERM U376, CPBS (Institute of Biology) between the periods of 2002 and 2007 on ‘Compartmentalization of Protein Kinase A (PKA) in pancreatic beta cells’ where I have trained on animal cell culture (MIN6 and INS1), experiments on cell signaling, immunoprecipitation technique, western blot technique, immunofluorescence study, SiRNA and some other biochemical and molecular biological aspects.
University of Dhaka, Bangladesh
Worked as a Research Associate on ‘Rice Biotechnology project for the development of salt tolerant rice’ from Dec 1993-April 1996 headed by Prof Zeba Islam Seraj in the Dept of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, funded by Rockefeller Foundation (USA) where I had taken care anther culture, embryo culture, suspension culture and cross breeding to find out a salt tolerant trait of rice.
Worked as a Research Associate in ‘National Iodine Deficiency and Disorder Survey in Bangladesh’, funded by UNICEF from Jan 1993 to Nov 1993 where I was engaged with the laboratory team of that project.
As a part of my MSc degree in the University of Dhaka I have carried out a research project on ‘Relationship between Smoking and Antioxidant Nutrients’ under the supervision of Prof Faruk Ahmed, INFS, Dhaka University (Jan 1992- Dec 1992). During this period I was also actively participated in another project on ‘Antioxidant Nutrients and Iron status among adolescent school girls in urban Bangladesh’. In both of these projects I was trained how to run epidemiological project, and in the laboratory part I was trained to use HPLC (High performance liquid chromatography, for the estimation of serum vitamins A and E) and AAS (Atomic absorption spectrophotometry, for the measurement of serum Zn and Cu).
